Materials to set up:
  • Pencils, white lap boards, markers and erasers, dictionaries, 
  • materials for children's activities, 
  • What is your/his/her name? chart on chalkboard
  • Alphabet upper and lower case for each student
  • computer and ppt (power point) projector
  • guitar
  • Worksheets :   *Alphabet upper and lower case        *What is your name chart
  • Opdbwb pp 3,6

 
Whole group:
Prayer ’Äì solicit contributions as you write three or more items for each part of the prayer.

Praise ’Äì example: "Dear Heavenly Father, You are holy, You are almighty, you are merciful"  (righteous, living, near, great, faithful, forgiving, the most high, our protector, our provider)

Thanks ’Äìexample: "We thank you for restoring Louis to health. We thank you for this beautiful weather. We thank you for providing for our needs."

Petition ’Äì example: "We ask that you help us to learn from each other. We pray for the health of Beatrice's mother. We pray for peace."
After writing, use the listed items as you pray in simple English. 
End the prayer with "We praise You, we thank You, and we ask You in Jesus' name. Amen."

1.Speaking activity:  What is your name? practice asking/answering - with chart
2.Writing activity: alphabet upper and lower case on lap boards
3.Listening activity:   Vocabulary exercise: alphabet phonics ppt ’Äì identify which are/are not vowels, which vowel sounds are long
Higher level: draw from the following materials that seem appropriate for your group (see key below)

*reading and listening BOPD-RA worksheet 24, with basic dictionary page 61
